Altimax Arctic
AltiMAX Arctic
radials are General Tire's
Studdable Winter tires developed for the drivers of
sport cars, coupes, sedans, vans and crossover vehicles that desire to use
traditional methods of enhancing wintertime traction. AltiMAX Arctic radials are
designed to offer high levels of traction at low temperatures.
AltiMAX Arctic radials use General Tire's All-WeatherDual Tread compound to
enhance cold weather flexibility and wet traction. The compound is molded into a
tread design with a Center Stability Rib and directional pattern to combine
straight-line stability on dry roads with water evacuation and hydroplaning
resistance on wet and slush-covered roads. The
AltiMAX Arctic radial's
270-degrees of high-density siping across the face of the tire enhances snow
traction when accelerating, cornering or braking. Alternating rows of metal
studs can be added in the shoulder and intermediate tread blocks to increase
traction on hard packed snow and icy roads. The tire's internal structure
includes twin steel belts on top of a polyester carcass featuring General Tire's
Reactive Contour Technology to react to different road conditions and maintain
better contact with the road surface.
General AltiMAX Arctic tires meet the industry's severe snow service
requirements and are branded with the
mountain/snowflake symbol.
Grabber AT2
|
The Grabber AT2 is General Tire's On-/Off-Road All-Terrain light truck
tire developed for pickup truck and sport utility vehicle drivers
looking for exceptional traction over all terrrains. The Grabber AT2 is
designed to combine long wear and reliability with year-round competence
on- and off-road in dry, wet and wintry conditions.
The Grabber AT2 features a chip- and tear-resistant tread compound
molded into an aggressive, symmetric tread design featuring five rows of
independent tread blocks to blend on-road handling with off-road
traction. The tread blocks feature multiple traction edges and sipes, as
well as are molded to accept optional metallic studs to increase wintry
weather traction. Tread block sizes and shapes have been
computer-optimized to allow the aggressive tread pattern to remain
relatively quiet and even wearing during on-road and highway driving.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts (some sizes
reinforced with nylon) on top of a two-ply polyester cord body to
combine strength and durability with a quiet ride.
NOTE: While many of the Grabber AT2 On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires meet
industry severe snow service requirements and are branded with the
mountain/snowflake symbol,
some do not. Specific tires/sizes not meeting the industry's
requirements are identified with a "Not Rated For Severe Snow" notation
on
Sizes & Prices,
as well as on
Specs.
Grabber AT2 tires are designed to accept optional #13 metal studs to
enhance ice traction. |

Winter driving...ice and snow...slipping and sliding...dings and dents.
Although your vehicle's ABS and traction control may be working overtime
restricting your progress to the traction available from its all-season
tires, with months of winter driving still ahead, isn't there a better
way?
Continental Tire, a European leader in winter / snow tires, actively
promotes the fact that summer and all-season tire tread compounds become
harder and more rigid as temperatures drop below 45°F, resulting in
decreased grip whether the roads are dry, wet or covered by snow. Winter
/ snow tire tread compounds remain flexible at lower temperatures,
increasing interaction with the road to provide better grip.
Continental ContiWinterContact and Continental 4x4 WinterContact
Performance Winter / Snow tires feature rubber compounds that remain
flexible in cold temperatures while their asymmetric tread designs
combine responsive handling with snow traction.
Switch to Continental winter / snow tires when temperatures drop to
45°F. |
